For weeks, the Pittsburgh Steelers have been known to be the only team in the NFL with any interest in signing four-time MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Earlier this offseason, the New York Jets informed Rodgers, in what he referred to as a disrespectful meeting, that he was being released and that the team was going in a different direction at the quarterback position.
Since then, the Jets have signed former Chicago Bears and Steelers quarterback Justin Fields to be their starter.
Rodgers, meanwhile, has met with the Steelers at their team facility, but has not decided whether or not he wants to play for them in 2025.
Pittsburgh Steelers Star Cam Heyward Previously Made Some Strong Comments About Aaron Rodgers

When news broke that Rodgers and the Steelers were having some serious conversations, it did not take long for many fans to become frustrated with the lack of traction on those talks. At the time, the 2025 NFL Draft was approaching and the team, in their opinion, needed some clarity regarding the quarterback position.
As it turned out, this frustration was not limited to the fans. It was also shared by several Steelers players. One of these, Cam Heyward, previously stated, “I’d rather have it done. I don’t know what ends up happening,” he added. “Ugh, I’m ready to move on from free agency.
“I ain’t doing that darkness retreat. I don’t need any of that crap. Either you want to be a Pittsburgh Steeler or you don’t. That’s simple. That’s the pitch. If you want me to recruit, that’s the recruiting pitch. Pittsburgh Steelers. If you want to be part of it, so be it. If you don’t, no skin off my back.”
He later walked back those comments as it became more clear that, if he were to play in 2025, Rodgers would be signing with Pittsburgh.
And now, he is singing a completely different tune.
Pittsburgh Steelers Star Cam Heyward Preaches Patience with Aaron Rodgers

Now, instead of demanding an answer from the future Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback, Heyward advises fans that they should be patient with him as he works through his decision.
According to Nick Farabaugh of Penn Live, Heyward recently said, “I don’t think we give enough patience to people. I think in this day and age with social media and everything, we kind of just expect an answer right there, right now. I don’t know where this is going to end. I don’t know if he’s ever going to be a Steeler. I don’t know if he’s already a Steeler, but, I think, let’s just show some patience.”
