Cleveland Browns quarterback Kenny Pickett is on his third NFL team in three years. He was with the Pittsburgh Steelers two season ago and he won a Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles last season as the backup quarterback to Jalen Hurts.

NFL Analyst Believes That Cleveland Browns Quarterback Kenny Pickett Will Win the Starting Job in Week 1

Jeff Kerr of CBS Sports listed different NFL opinions before the start of NFL training camp. He also mentioned if some of these opinions are either overreactions or not. One statement that Kerr made is Pickett will win the starting quarterback job for the Browns. He thinks that is not an overreaction and believes that he will win the starting job over Shedeur Sanders, Joe Flacco, and Dillon Gabriel.
Kerr said about Pickett,
“The Browns have four quarterbacks battling for the starting quarterback job in what will be the most intriguing battle around training camp. Pickett isn’t the most proven of the four between Joe Flacco and rookies Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders, but he revitalized his career in his one season in Philadelphia.
The Browns didn’t give up much for Pickett, so they don’t owe him anything. He’s still a former first-round pick that can succeed in a quarterback-friendly offense, which the Browns have under Kevin Stefanski. Don’t get too caught up in the up-and-down minicamp.
Once the regular season comes around, there will be a leash. Pickett will still be the starter come Week 1. “
If Pickett is the Week 1 starter for this team, then there is a chance that Flacco is more than likely released. Gabriel would most likely be the backup quarterback then for Cleveland. Also, what would this team do with Sanders then? There will be a lot of experimenting with the quarterback position in 2025 for head coach Kevin Stefanski and general manager Andrew Berry.
If Pickett wins the job and if he is actually successful, it would come as a major surprise across the NFL. What would this say about Stefanski as a coach and what would it say about Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin when it comes to developing offense as a defensive minded head coach? Some people think that Flacco will be the Week 1 starter for Cleveland, but Pickett will get priority over the rookies for now.
