The 2023 USFL draft was eventful and fun for football fans. The Philadelphia Stars had a balanced draft and strengthened its roster. Philadelphia enters the 2023 season hungry for a championship. The Stars went 6-4 in 2022 and lost the USFL championship to the Birmingham Stallions. The Star’s draft picks will help the team accomplish the ultimate goal of winning a title.
Round 1: Offensive Tackle Alfred Edwards
The Philadelphia Stars selected Alfred Edwards in the first round. Edwards attended Utah State and had a productive college career. Edwards started 53 games at Utah State which shows durability. Edwards was first-team All-Mountain West Conference as a senior. Edwards played left tackle in college and should be able to help the Star’s offensive line.
Round 2: Offensive Tackle Anderson Hardy
The Philadelphia Stars kept building up front and selected Anderson Hardy. Hardy attended Appalachian State University. Hardy played 44 games and started 28 straight games to finish his college career. Hardy was named All-Sun Belt first team in 2022 and was invited to the Hula Bowl.
Round 3: Offensive Tackle Isaac Moore
Isaac Moore was a talented left tackle at the University of Temple. Moore started as left tackle as a freshman and continued to play left tackle. Moore broke Delvon Randall’s school record for most consecutive games played with 55 and finished with 57. Moore was also named fourth-team All-AAC.
Round 4: Edge Rusher Truman Jones
Truman Jones attended Harvard University so he brings his intelligence to the Philadelphia Stars. Jones was invited to East-West Shrine Bowl and Hula Bowl. Jones recorded 19 tackles, 5.5 sacks, and forced a fumble in 2022.
Round 5: Offensive Tackle Earl Bostick Jr.
Earl Bostick Jr played college football at the University of Kansas. Bostick Jr played left and right tackle during his college career. Bostick Jr can use his versatility to help the Star’s offensive line. Bostick Jr was invited to the NFL Combine and could be headed to the NFL after the Star’s season concludes.
Round 6: Edge Rusher Jose Ramirez
Jose Ramirez had an excellent senior season at Eastern Michigan. Ramirez recorded 19.5 tackles and 12 sacks as a senior. Maxx Crosby attended Eastern Michigan and Ramirez could follow his path to the NFL.
Round 7: Offensive Tackle Demontrey Jacobs
Demontrey Jacobs started two seasons for the University of South Florida. Jacobs had the opportunity to play in the College Gridiron Showcase and NFLPA Bowl. Jacobs was named to the 2022 Preseason Phil Steele All-AAC Fourth Team.
Round 8: Defensive Lineman Trey Botts
Trey Botts attended Colorado State University-Pueblo. Botts recorded 66 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, and 5.5 sacks in 2022. Botts was named Rocky Mountain Conference defensive player of the year in 2022.
Round 9: Cornerback Destin Mack
Destin Mack played college football at Citadel. Mack primarily played on the outside and recorded nine interceptions during his career. Mack is listed at 6’0 190 pounds. Mack should be able to use his size to make plays for the Philadelphia Stars.
Round 10: Linebacker Dre Terry
Terry recorded 85 tackles as a senior at Alabama A&M. Terry also recorded 12 tackles for loss and was a dominant player for the Bulldogs. Terry’s ability to rush the quarterback sets him apart from other linebackers. Star’s fans should be excited to land a talented linebacker in Dre Terry.
