The 2-1 Philadelphia Eagles play against the 2-1 Tampa Bay Buccaneers in an exciting rematch from last season’s playoffs. The last time these two teams met, the Buccaneers blew out the Eagles 32-9 in the Super Wild Card round. The over/under is 43 points, and the Eagles are 1.5-point favorites.
The Eagles released their final injury report on Friday. Seven players were listed, including their top two receivers.
The Philadelphia Eagles’ top two wide receivers are dealing with an injury
A.J. Brown suffered a hamstring injury the week of their second game and missed Weeks 2 and 3. Brown did not participate in Wednesday and Thursday’s practice but was a limited participant on Friday. He is questionable. Having him back in the starting rotation will positively impact Jalen Hurts and the passing game.
DeVonta Smith suffered a head injury in the fourth quarter of their last game after Khristian Boyd hit him high while Smith was going backward, and his helmet came off as a result. Smith left the game and was placed in the concussion protocol. The NFL fined Boyd $4,600 for his hit on a defenseless player. He argues that he was making a play on the ball.

DVS will not play
DeVonta Smith did not participate in Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday’s practice as he remains in the concussion protocol. The Philadelphia Eagles have ruled out Smith for Sunday’s game. He will miss his first game of the 2024 season, leaving the Eagles receiving corps shorthanded.

A look at the Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver room
The Eagles have four wide receivers on their active roster: A.J. Brown (hurt), DeVonta Smith (hurt), Jahan Dotson, and Johnny Wilson. They also have two receivers on injured reserve: Britain Covey and Ainias Smith. Finally, they have five on the practice squad: Parris Campbell, John Ross, Danny Gray, Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint, and Kyle Philips.
Since NFL teams can elevate two players from the practice squad for game day, the Eagles will likely elevate one or two wide receivers for Week 4. Don’t be surprised if Campbell gets elevated and another receiver.
