The Philadelphia Eagles travel to New Orleans, Louisiana, to play against the 2-0 New Orleans Saints at Caesars Superdome. The Eagles are coming off a frustrating 21-22 loss to the Falcons last Monday, in which they blew a six-point lead with under two minutes left in the game. Jalen Hurts completed 23 out of 30 pass attempts for 183 yards, one touchdown, and the game-sealing interception on their final offensive drive.
The Eagles will have to gameplan without their elite offensive weapon.
The Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver popped up on the injury report last week
A.J. Brown popped up on the injury report last Friday because he was experiencing tightness in his hamstring and did not participate in Saturday’s practice. The Eagles ruled Brown out for Week 2. He told Lisa Salters last Monday that he “will miss a couple of weeks.”
Nick Sirianni, after the game, wasn’t sure if Brown would miss a few more weeks.
“We’ll see. We’ll see,” Sirianni said, via a transcript from the team. “I don’t know that yet. You know I won’t give you that information yet because I don’t know. We’ll see how that goes.”
He will not play
A.J. Brown did not participate in Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday’s practice. The Eagles have released their final injury report for Week 3 and ruled Brown out for the second straight game. There is a chance he won’t play in their Week 4 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, as he mentioned that he could miss a couple of weeks. However, they will have a BYE in Week 5 and should be ready for Week 6 as their worst-case scenario.
Who’s role will increase?
The Philadelphia Eagles expect Jahan Dotson’s role to increase with A.J. Brown out of the starting rotation, and serving as their WR2. Dotson has had a disappointing start to his tenure in Philadelphia, with one reception on two targets for six yards in 88 offensive snaps.
Britain Covey’s role will also increase as he jumps from being their WR4 to WR3. Finally, DeVonta Smith is their WR1 for their second straight week and will receive most of the targets.
