After winning the Super Bowl last season, the Philadelphia Eagles enter the 2025 NFL season looking to repeat. While they lost some key pieces during the offseason, the Eagles still appear to have a roster good enough to compete with the other elite teams around the league.
Led by head coach Nick Sirianni, Philadelphia is going to be a favorite at the beginning of the year.
As previously mentioned, the Eagles did lose some key pieces this offseason. However, they also added some great players. Could they still be in the market to make another move or two before the regular season arrives?
That is what one NFL writer suggested recently.
Philadelphia Eagles Predicted to Make Intriguing Trade Before 2025 Season
For The Win writer Cory Woodroof has predicted that Philadelphia will acquire New England Patriots’ veteran wide receiver Kendrick Bourne to bolster its offense even more.
“The Patriots have one of the most crowded receiver rooms in the NFL, and it feels there will be an odd man out with potential starters,” Woodroof wrote.
“Bourne still holds value as a veteran wideout who can help any quarterback, and New England might be curious to see what it could get in a future asset as opposed to cutting Bourne outright. The Eagles could give Bourne a clearer path to the field and quarterback Jalen Hurts an excellent depth option in the passing game. Adding Bourne could be a really savvy move to address receiver depth for Philadelphia.”

What would the trade look like? Woodroof suggested that the Eagles would send a 2026 seventh-round pick to the Patriots for Bourne.
If that trade were on the table, Philadelphia would be wise to pursue it. Bourne did not have a very productive 2024 campaign with New England, but he’s a quality veteran receiver who would be excellent depth for the Eagles.
Throughout the course of a dismal year in 2024 for the Patriots, Bourne caught 28 passes for 305 yards and a touchdown in 12 games played. Those numbers aren’t great, but the entire team struggled.
Giving up a seventh-round select for a potential playmaker that Jalen Hurts could utilize would be a no-brainer for Philadelphia. It’s just an idea, but it’s one that would make sense for the Eagles.
