Last season, the Philadelphia Eagles came placed second in the NFC East. This season, though, they are being projected to go beyond that in the latest prediction on how they’re going to perform for the 2024-25 NFL campaign.
Just recently, the Eagles concluded their 2024 preseason with a 26-3 defeat against the Minnesota Vikings, wrapping up with a 2-1 record. This last game served as a crucial evaluation period as the team prepares for the regular season opener. Some players significantly boosted their chances of making the final roster, while others faced setbacks.
Wide receiver Britain Covey solidified his position by sitting out the final game, indicating he is a lock for the team. Offensive tackle Fred Johnson also enjoyed a day off, underscoring his importance as a backup. Ainias Smith turned in a strong performance with six receptions for 36 yards, which may have earned him a spot on the roster. Veteran edge rusher Julian Okwara made an impact with a sack, while safety Tristin McCollum continued to impress with his consistent play throughout the preseason.
On the flip side, veteran receiver Parris Campbell struggled after the team acquired Jahan Dotson, leading to extended playing time in the final game. Jacob Harris suffered a concussion early on, missing a key opportunity to showcase his skills. Cornerback Zech McPhearson faced issues with penalties and missed tackles, while first-round pick Nolan Smith’s extensive playing time raised concerns about his readiness. These performances will significantly influence roster decisions as the Eagles look to refine their team ahead of the new season.
Philadelphia Eagles Projected To Top NFC East For 2024-25 NFL Season
Taking the performances of these guys into consideration, plus the Eagles’ schedule for the season, and there’s a chance to see how they’ll end up by next year. In an analysis done by Cynthia Frelund, Philadelphia is projected to finish the season on top of the NFC with 11.2 wins.

I tried to make a model to forecast how many times we’ll see the “Brotherly Shove” this season, but now that Jason Kelce has taken one step closer to Canton and Saquon Barkley has been added to the run quotient, I couldn’t get an estimate that had enough validity for usage as a funny note. (Math is funny, FYI.) What I did realize is that the changes in structure on offense, as well as at both coordinator positions, have created a really nice balance between continuity of players and new looks/twists to the game plan.
Furthermore, Next Gen Stats reminded me that Jalen Hurts completed 4.1 percent more of his passes than expected in 2023 (third-most among qualified passers). And on passes with a completion probability under 25 percent, Hurts connected on 10 of his 39 throws (both league highs) .
The Eagles’ 2024 schedule presents a mix of challenges and opportunities. With key matchups against competitive teams, including several divisional rivals, the Eagles will need to perform consistently to secure a strong playoff position.
As they aim to build on last season’s success, fans are eager to see how the team adapts to this demanding lineup. In any case, their projected record reflects the potential Philadelphia has in performing this season.
