The Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Green Bay Packers 34-29 on Friday night in their first game of the 2024 NFL season. Played in Sao Paolo, Brazil, it was the first team NFL teams met for a game on the continent of South America. Despite several mistakes and a very slipper field, Jalen Hurts and the Eagles were able to come out on top thanks to timely drives.
After kicking a field goal with 30 seconds remaining in the game, Green Bay Packers All-Pro kick returner Keisean Nixon inexplicably took the ensuing kickoff out of the end zone and only got 15 yards before the Eagles took him down.
A few plays later, Packers quarterback Jordan Love was taken down by Jalen Carter and had to leave the game with a lower leg injury. The severity of the injury is not yet known, but reactions to it were immediate on social media were immediate.
Even Jason Kelce weighed in.
Former Philadelphia Eagles Center Jason Kelce Responds to the Jordan Love Injury
When Love went down with his injury and had to be helped off of the field, Kelce posted:
Hopefully Jordan Love is okay, love watching him play.

One Packers fan jokingly responded that Kelce could donate his leg to Love, to which the former Eagles center responded, “I promise you, for the longevity of his career Jordan Love does not want my leg!”
Another former Eagles player, Chirs Long, also weighed in.
One fan asked Long his thoughts on Carter’s tackle, which some Packers fans have criticized as being dirty. Long responded, “Done the exact same thing. You hold on for dear life. He can’t see what’s happening, hes scratching and clawing on the ground to WIN and get a sack. chaos down there. armchair QB can watch frame by frame and say dirty. My heart hurts for Love. Rising star. Everyone respects him.”
It is worth noting that Carter was not flagged on the play, nor did the officials indicate afterwards that they missed anything.
Kelce and Long’s comments reveal the high-level of his own character. He was a great deal more gracious on social media than many fans on both sides.
They also reveal how highly players around the NFL view Love.
Hopefully he is not out for long and avoided serious injury.
