After being away from the team for one year, the Philadelphia Eagles decided to bring back C.J. Gardner-Johnson during the offseason. The 26-year-old did not exactly make his mark with the Detroit Lions last season, which prompted Johnson’s decision to enter free agency in March.
The Eagles wasted no time signing the safety, thereby securing a noteworthy reunion with their former player.
Philadelphia Eagles News: C.J. Gardner-Johnson Ends Practice
On Thursday, the Eagles posted a video on social media wherein Gardner is seen performing an act that has quickly endeared him with his new/former Philly teammates. Apparently, the former Florida standout was given the opportunity to end an official team meeting by hitting a long-range basketball shot inside the team facility.
Gardner did not disappoint.
Whoever made this bet with Gardner probably didn’t know that he’s pretty smooth with a basketball too. Either that or that coach/team official also didn’t feel like having a meeting that day.
The best part of the video is the Eagles players celebrating Gardner’s Steph Curry-like heroics. Clearly, they too were excited to see the meeting come to an end earlier than expected.
It is unclear what the agenda of the meeting was, but it likely had something to do with Thursday’s open practice. Either way, it doesn’t seem like everything that needed to be discussed was covered due to Gardner’s epic shot.
The Eagles will now probably think twice the next time they lay anything on the line against Gardner’s basketball shooting prowess.
