The Philadelphia Eagles have been one of the top teams for the last few years but the injury bug continues to be around ahead of the 2024 NFL season. Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer reported that right guard Mekhi Becton left Sunday’s practice with a right leg injury and eventually would limp to the locker room.
This is something that has unfortunately been the story of the 11th pick in the 2020 NFL draft as Mekhi Becton was only able to play in 31 of the 67 games during the first four years of his career with the New York Jets. When he is on the field, there have been flashes of talent but he has not played enough to facilitate a player with his talents.
Mekhi Becton has been projected to be the Philadelphia Eagles’ starting right guard and has been in competition with Tyler Steen, who has also been dealing with an injury. It will be interesting to see if this injury will force Mekhi Becton to miss time going forward.
What should we expect out of the Philadelphia Eagles this season?
The Philadelphia Eagles have been one of the top teams over the last few years and made some big additions this offseason. The team is currently the favorite to win the NFC East (-160) while also having the sixth-highest odds to win the Super Bowl (+1500). They do not have too difficult of a schedule on paper with their premier games being against the Green Bay Packers, Cincinnati Bengals and Baltimore Ravens.
There were a lot of issues that caused the Philadelphia Eagles to go from 10-1 to not winning the division as well as losing 32-9 in the NFC Wild Card Round to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. With reports regarding the relationship between coach Nick Sirianni and quarterback Jalen Hurts, there are a lot of questions regarding what this team can be.
With the offseason that the team was able to have, expect the secondary to be a bit better and the offense to be able to hand the ball off to running back Saquon Barkley instead of the tush push.
