The Philadelphia Eagles take on the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX later today. The matchup, which features the same two teams that competed in Super Bowl LVII, sees the Chiefs looking to win their third consecutive Super Bowl and fourth in the decade while the Eagles are looking to win it for the first time since 2018.
Indeed, this is a game that could determine how many players are viewed in the annals of NFL history. That being said, one for NFL quarterback turned analyst believes it could affect how Jalen Hurts is viewed, and ranked amongst his peers from the 2020 NFL Draft, now.
Philadelphia Eagles Quarterback Jalen Hurts Is 1 of Many Notable Quarterbacks from the 2020 NFL Draft

The 2020 NFL Draft saw multiple quarterbacks that are now stars in the league taken in the first round. Joe Burrow, of course, was the number one overall pick by the Cincinnati Bengals that year. Other first round quarterbacks were Tua Tagovailoa of the Miami Dolphins, Justin Herbert of the Los Angeles Chargers, and Jordan Love of the Green Bay Packers.
Hurts was not taken by the Eagles until the second round of the NFL Draft that year, yet has already done something that no other quarterback in his draft class has been able to do: reach the Super Bowl.
And, of course, Super Bowl LIX will be his second appearance in the NFL’s biggest game.
Should he win it, former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III believes it will put Hurts in a category above his peers, which includes two-time NFL MVP Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens and current NFL MVP Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills, in terms of greatness.
If Jalen Hurts and the Eagles win the Super Bowl, he won’t be in the same category of Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow and Josh Allen. HE WILL BE A CATEGORY ABOVE THEM in the one that matters. And while Hurts has two Pro Bowls and a second-place finish in NFL MVP voting to his name already, fans are not so sure Griffin’s assessment is accurate.

NFL fans were quick to disagree with Griffin, not because of Hurts per say, but because there have been some fairly average quarterbacks in league history who have won a Super Bowl, and other great quarterbacks who have not.
And this is why I’ll die on the hill that Trent Dilfer was better than Dan Marino
Everyone knows this https://t.co/BCyyYLjAcv— Big Game Bengal (@BengalYouTube) February 9, 2025
Just making sure, Nick Foles is already in this category right?

Nick Foles & Joe Flacco are better than Dan Marino.
A category above.
*Winning is a team statistic.*
Winning a Super Bowl is often more about circumstance (coaching, scheming, conference competition, team talent) than QB talent.
There is a reason you scored a 9 on your Wonderlic. https://t.co/8ys7vOiG3L— Tad_Z_Imas (@New_Common_Law) February 9, 2025
There is no question that Hurts is a very good quarterback. However, winning a Super Bowl is a team accomplishment and, well, the Eagles quarterback is not even the best offensive player on his own roster (see: Saquon Barkley).
