Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has not been as dominant in 2023. This does not mean that his team is not winning but Hurts has not looked as sharp. This is seen in his play as Hurts leads the league in interceptions through week 7.

Philadelphia Eagles Jalen Hurts Leading The League In Interceptions
Hurts has thrown eight interceptions through seven weeks. This is a huge contrast from last year as he threw only six during the entirety of the 2022 season. This is a huge reason why the Eagles have not looked as sharp. Philadelphia didn’t turn the ball over last season which was a huge reason why they were so dominant. Now, the turnovers have made the play on the field look more sloppy. While they are still winning, this is an issue that has to be corrected otherwise it could come back to bite the team in the playoffs.
Can Hurts Correct The Issue?
He has clearly done it before. For his career, his total season interceptions only peak at nine. He is on track to set a career-high in the category which is not ideal for a team that is trying to make it back to the Super Bowl. Their lone loss was to the New York Jets and it was because of the turnovers. A late-game interception by Hurts gave the Jets the game. In the regular season, teams can get away with more. Once playoff time comes, the turnovers have to stop.
The Philadelphia Eagles are not panicking about Jalen Hurts. There is plenty of season left and their record has put them in the driver’s seat in the NFC. While there are things to work on, the team has set themselves up well for another run at the Super Bowl.
