Philadelphia Eagles: Jalen Carter’s PFF Ranking Entering the 2024 Season

Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter will be one of the starting defensive linemen on the Eagles this season. With Flecther Cox no longer on the team because of retirement, Carter will pursue a bigger role this season.

Carter will be entering his second NFL season. He was the ninth overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft out of Georgia. Along with Jalen Carter, Milton Williams, and Jordan Davis are projected to be the other starting defensive lineman for the Philadelphia Eagles this season.

The Eagles defense struggled down the stretch and it did not have to do with the defensive line. The secondary had major issues toward the end of last season and it was addressed in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Pro Football Focus Sam Monson is ranking his Top 50 players entering the 2024 NFL season. Philadelphia Eagles defensive lineman Jalen Carter is ranked 41 entering the 2024 NFL season. Monson said about the Eagles defensive lineman being on the list:

“For the first several weeks of the 2023 season — his rookie season — Jalen Carter was grading and producing like future Hall-of-Famer Aaron Donald. That level was perhaps inevitably unsustainable, but even so, he finished his debut season with an 89.0 PFF overall grade, ranking fifth in the NFL. Carter has the talent to be at the very top of this list. Only players like Donald have showcased that kind of instant impact at the position over the past decade or so.”

Carter last season recorded 33 tackles, six sacks, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery. It is going to be interesting to see what kind of numbers he will put up during his second NFL season. He will no doubt make an impact on the Eagles’ defensive line.

Carter has the potential to be a Pro Bowl player this season. He has a lot of upside for his game as long as he can stay on the field and not get himself into trouble off the field. Jalen Carter at some point is going to be facing double teams like Fletcher Cox once did.

If Philadelphia’s defense is going to show signs of improvement this season, it starts up front. It would not be a surprise if he was talked about as one of the best defensive tackles in the NFL by the end of the 2024 NFL season.
