The Philadelphia Eagles are hoping their defensive line has a season like last year. After nearly breaking the sack record in 2022, the team still boasts one of the best pass rushes in the league. A big part of that is edge Haason Reddick. Unfortunately, Reddick injured his thumb during a joint practice with the Browns and now requires surgery.
Philadelphia Eagles Haason Reddick To Have Thumb Surgery
The good news for Eagles fans is the team is not thinking that Reddick will miss any time. Thumb injuries can be masked especially for pass rushers. Players will often tape the living daylights out of an injury to the hand and still play at a high level. Reddick is hoping to prove that he deserves a huge rework of his contract. His 16 sacks last year with another 3.5 in the postseason put him amongst the league leaders. The Eagles will need his presence on the field.
Can Philadelphia Duplicate Last Year’s Success?
Defense is notoriously volatile from year to year. It very much depends on what teams you play and when you play them. There is no question that the Eagles had an easier schedule last year. Now, they play a first-place schedule and will have to deal with many of the league’s best. However, the depth of the defensive line will make the Eagles tough to deal with in the fourth quarter of a lot of games.
Hopefully, Haason Reddick will have a speedy recovery. The Philadelphia Eagles are hoping they will be able to take advantage of a weak NFC conference and make it back to the Super Bowl in 2023.
