The Philadelphia Eagles offensive line play often hinges on one play, Lane Johnson. In the times he has been out injured, the line has struggled and the numbers for Philadelphia quarterbacks plummet. The team obviously recognizes this and has extended Johnson’s contract.

Philadelphia Eagles Extend Lane Johnson
The extension is just one year and keeps him with the team through 2026. It is a hefty number at $33.445 million with $30 million guaranteed but investing in the offensive line is never a bad idea. The deal is two-fold. One, it shows Johnson how much value he has for the team. He is vastly underpaid at the position and this gives him some more guaranteed money down the road. Two, it reduces his cap number for 2023 giving the Eagles more flexibility.

Gearing Up For Another Super Bowl Run
Can the Eagles make it back to the Super Bowl? The NFC is definitely a winnable conference though the NFC East will likely be the toughest division with the Dallas Cowboys also gearing up for a Super Bowl run. However, Jalen Hurts and many key offensive pieces return. Even though they lost a couple of players on defense, they retained some of them and have good draft capital to work with thanks to the New Orleans Saints. The Eagles will definitely be in the mix late in the season.
Getting back to a Super Bowl is hard but the Eagles understand how they got there in the first place. Lane Johnson is a huge part of what the team does and he improves the players around him. The team takes care of one of their own whiles also increasing flexibility in the short term. It looks like a win for both sides.
