The Philadelphia Eagles extend an assistant
The Philadelphia Eagles are replacing two coordinators after losing the Super Bowl. They’re making sure to retain the third. Defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon took the head coaching job with the Arizona Cardinals. Offensive coordinator Shane Steichen accepted the Indianapolis Colts head coaching job.
According to Aaron Wilson with KPRC, the Eagles are extending special teams coordinator Michael Clay for the 2023 season.

Clay has been the Eagles’ special teams coordinator since the 2021 season. Per Wilson’s report, Clay is a “highly-regarded” special teams coordinator. But his Eagles unit struggled in 2022.
According to Rick Gosselin’s rankings, the Eagles were ranked 31st in the NFL for special teams in 2022. Clay’s special teams came under fire in the Super Bowl. A Bad punt by Arryn Sippos led to Kansas City Chiefs’ return man Kadarius Toney breaking a Super Bowl punt return record and taking the football to the five-year line. The play set up a pivotal touchdown in the fourth quarter.
