A Philadelphia Eagles player has been indicted
The Philadelphia Eagles just received a major distraction before their Super Bowl date with the Kansas City Chiefs. According to a report by TMZ, an Eagles offensive lineman has been indicted on pretty heinous charges.
Per the TMZ report, undrafted rookie free agent Josh Sills was indicted on rape and kidnapping charges that stem from 2019.
“According to prosecutors in Ohio, the charges stem from an incident that happened in Guernsey County back on Dec. 5, 2019. Officials allege that Sills — a rookie reserve lineman for the Eagles who made the team this year as an undrafted free agent — “engaged in sexual activity that was not consensual and held a victim against her will.” Prosecutors say the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation into the case — and a grand jury eventually indicted Sills on one felony count of rape and one felony count of kidnapping this week”
The Eagles have yet to comment
The Philadelphia Eagles have yet to release a statement on Sills’ indictment from an incident that would have taken place around when Sills was a college football athlete at West Virginia and was transferring to Oklahoma State. The Eagles, who won the NFC Championship Game on Sunday, will prepare to play in the Super Bowl next weekend. Sills has played no offensive snaps for the Eagles in the regular season or postseason.
NFL fans react
Sills is innocent until proven guilty, but the Eagles could decide to sit Sills for the Super Bowl. Many NFL fans had comments on what the Eagles should do with Sills before the Super Bowl after the news of the alleged incident surfaced Wednesday.
