The Philadelphia Eagles are looking to avenge their 2023 season. After starting out as the hottest team in the league with a 10-1 record, the Eagles had an abysmal second half of the season. They finished 11-6 on the year and were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs.
The Eagles have spent the 2024 off-season making numerous moves to get better, highlighted by signing star running back Saquon Barkley.
However, there was another free agent addition who decided to take less money to pursue a championship with Philadelphia.
Free Agent Took Less Money To Sign With The Philadelphia Eagles
During the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Super Bowl run in 2020, linebacker Devin White provided some great play, but it has been a rocky relationship since then – and that ended this off-season.
A year after demanding a trade last offseason and holding off during camp, White agreed to join the Eagles on a four-year, $4 million contract after Buccaneers linebacker KJ Britt started cutting into his snaps. According to Sports Illustrated’s Eagles Today, White called the experience humbling and said he might be better off leaving Tampa Bay.
However, a recent interview revealed that he took less money to choose the Philadelphia Eagles:
Devin White took a pay cut to sign with the #Eagles to win a Super Bowl:
“Rather taking such and such with another team that don’t have the pieces around to even allow me to become even better.”

It will be interesting to see what the Eagles’ linebackers look like come week one of the NFL Season when they open up play in Brazil against the Green Bay Packers.
