Philadelphia Eagles safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson fined
Philadelphia Eagles safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson is already dealing with the pain of losing a Super Bowl. The NFL added to it on Friday. The veteran safety was part of an elite Eagles defense that imploded on Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs in the second half.
They allowed the Chiefs to score on every possession in the second half to dent their chances of winning the Super Bowl. On Friday, the NFL announced they were denting Garner-Johnson’s wallet.
According to Tom Pelissero with the NFL Network, Gardner-Johnson was fined $14,111 for a tackle he made in the Super Bowl. He lowered his head to initiate contact with Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco in the fourth quarter. There was no flag on the play. And Gardner-Johnson will appeal the fine.

The NFL is trying to take hits like that seriously. Injuries were down overall in the NFL last season. However, concussions, one of the most dangerous injuries in the sport, rose during the 20222 regular season. That’s a tough break for Gardner-Johnson trying to make a play on a crucial drive. He finished the Super Bowl recording four total tackles, two of them were solo.
