The Philadelphia Eagles had to address their outside linebacker/EDGE rusher depth at some point after losing Josh Sweat and Brandon Graham’s uncertain future, and they don’t have many players at the position. Philadelphia currently has five under contract, including two under reserve/future deals. With limited cap space, the Eagles would have to settle for one on a team-friendly deal.
Philadelphia Eagles add intriguing defender with 20.5 career sacks

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Eagles signed Josh Uche to a one-year contract.

Uche is on his third team and sixth year in the league. He has recorded 86 tackles, 19 TFLs, 34 QB hits, 20.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles in 64 games. Similar to Bryce Huff, he is a situational pass rusher, isn’t a three-down defender, is primarily known for his pass-rushing abilities, and the most snaps he ever played in a single season was 374 (33%) in 2022, but he has a lot of potential.
The newcomer had a rough 2024 campaign

Josh Uche had a rough 2024 campaign after a solid start to the year. After playing the first seven games and recording 23 tackles, two TFLs, three QB hits, and two sacks, the New England Patriots made him a healthy scratch in Week 8. The Patriots then traded him to the Kansas City Chiefs, hoping to contribute on defense and contend for the playoffs. However, that was not the case.

Uche played the first five games with the Chiefs in a minimal role and recorded 10 tackles, failing to record a tackle for loss, a QB hit, and a sack. They made him a healthy scratch in four of their last five weeks of the regular season, with Week 18 being the last time he played in a Chiefs uniform. Hoping to contribute in January, he was a healthy scratch for the entire postseason.
Reviewing his dominant 2022 season

Josh Uche had a dominant 2022 campaign, boasting career-highs in tackles, TFLs, QB hits, and sacks along with pressures and pass-rush win rate, ranking among the best in the league in the last two categories. Uche recorded 27 tackles, nine TFLs, 14 QB hits, 11.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles in 15 games, representing only 33% of snaps. He also posted 56 pressures and a 19.2% pass-rush win rate, ranking 16th in pressures and 6th in pass-rush win rate, among 125 qualified EDGE rushers who played a minimum of 20% of snaps (h/t) PFF.
If the Philadelphia Eagles can get him back to 2022 form, they will, once again, have a dominant pass rush.
