The Philadelphia Eagles‘ offense may be returning to full strength as quarterback Jalen Hurts and Co. return from the bye week ahead of Sunday’s clash against the reeling Cleveland Browns.
According to a report from NFL Insider James Palmer, the Eagles “expect” to have dynamic wide receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith back on the field in Week 6.
Brown has been sidelined since Week 2, after suffering a hamstring injury, while Smith was knocked from Philadelphia’s Week 3 victory over the New Orleans Saints after suffering a concussion on a vicious hit.
In the absence of their top two receivers, Hurts and the Eagles’ offense couldn’t get any momentum going whatsoever in Week 4, getting blown out by Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 33-16 before the bye week.
Smith, before getting injured, had caught 21 passes for 239 yards and a touchdown through two-plus games, further strengthening his connection with Hurts. Meanwhile, Brown got off to a fast start with a five-reception for 119 yards and a touchdown performance against the Packers in the season opener in Brazil.
Expect the Eagles’ offense to take more vertical shots downfield and create more big play opportunities for Saquon Barkley and the ground game because defenses need to pay more respect to Huts and Philly’s top two field-stretching weapons.
