Pete Carroll, the new head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders, spoke to the press for the first time after getting the job on Monday. Pete Carroll discussed his plan for the team and also outlined his expectations from the players. The 73-year-old does not expect to do things slowly and wants the team’s performance to turn around as quickly as possible.
The Las Vegas Raiders definitely did not have a great season in the most recent one and finished last in the AFC West with only four wins and 13 defeats. For their very last matchup, the Raiders played against the Los Angeles Chargers and lost the game with a final score of 34-20. In order to improve their rankings in the next NFL season, the Raiders got rid of Antonio Pierce and recently appointed Pete Carroll as head coach.
“You’re all wondering about timelines and all that. It took us a few years to get to the very top of the last couple programs I was with. We’re starting right now, going for it immediately. We don’t have some time, and we got to make it five or six years down the road. That’s not what we’re thinking. We’re going to start right now to go after it and build this team as quickly as we can. As [general manager] John [Spytek] saw Maxx [Crosby] back there, Maxx, send the message, man. We’re coming after you. We’re going to come find you guys and get this thing rolling as soon as possible, with the highest of expectations, with a mentality that will drive high performance in a way that hopefully everybody’s going to hear us and they’re going to know us and so I’m really proud to take on that challenge. So, thrilled to be here. Thanks again.” Pete Carroll said to reporters on Monday.
In the most recent NFL season, Pete Carroll did not have a coaching role but was a senior advisor for the Seattle Seahawks. He also coached the team full-time for more than a decade and was also the vice president of football operations during the same period.

Pete Carroll Dismisses Haters Who Criticize His Age
Meanwhile, Pete Carroll addressed critics who felt that he was too old to coach an NFL team. At 73 years of age, Pete Carroll does not seem to be slowing down one bit, and instead asked haters to “just watch”.

The newly appointed head coach for the Las Vegas Raiders also came out to say that he is indeed a skilled athlete and that he was ‘number 40’ all his life. He also went on to remark that he definitely knows how to do it and will “kick ass in every aspect”.
