The Denver Broncos escaped with a victory against the Las Vegas Raiders on the road this Sunday. It was a hard-fought but not a high-scoring match, so it might look like a straightforward one. But those who watched the game until the final whistle saw something very fishy from Pete Carroll’s side.

Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy labeled that last-minute controversial call “the worst beat of all time.” He seemingly accused the Raiders’ head coach of rigging the game at the last second.
Dave Portnoy Demands Investigation Into Pete Carroll for Rigging Allegations
The Broncos led 24–14 with only seconds remaining and had the game in hand. The Raiders ran one last play, but their player was tackled in bounds, leaving almost no time on the clock.
Then an unfortunate penalty on a Broncos defender gave the Raiders one final snap. At that moment, any team would try for a TD, but Carroll sent his kicker in the play, who made a 46‑yard field goal as time ran out and the game finished with 24–17.
It did change the final score in a way that upset people who had bet on Denver to win by more points. Portnoy was likely one of these who bet for the same category and lost his money miserably due to HC’s last-minute clever play.
He took to X and went full destruction mode against the Raiders coach, which has already reached millions of viewers. “That’s the worst beat of all time!” he screamed. “You have to investigate the Raiders! Investigate the Raiders! What are they doing? What the fuck? That’s the worst beat of all time! That is cheating!”
PRISON FOR EVERYBODY!! THAT’S THE BIGGEST RIG JOB IVE EVER SEEN. INVESTIGATE THE NFL. INVESTIGATE PETE CARROLL. IVESTIGATE THE RAIDERS!!! pic.twitter.com/hpEr1JOiqm

The Barstool founder continued, “Pete Carroll should be in f—— prison… There’s 16 seconds left in the game… The spread’s eight and a half. They spiked the ball by the way, they ran up and spiked it… PRISON, PETE CARROLL! MURDER PETE CARROLL! I want Pete Carroll murdered.”
The timing seemed too perfect to be worse for Carroll, whose first season in Sin City has been an unmitigated disaster. At 2-11, this marks the worst record of his distinguished coaching career.
The 74-year-old has never lost more than 10 games in a season, but this Raiders squad is holding one of the worst records of this season.
Pete Carroll’s Raiders Future in Doubt After Insider Leak
While Portnoy demanded federal investigations, NFL insiders are whispering that Carroll’s tenure in Vegas might not survive the offseason. CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones dropped a bombshell during the December 7 edition of “CBS Sports HQ,” revealing league-wide sentiment that the Pete Carroll experiment has crashed and burned.
According to Jones, general manager John Spytek remains secure despite the dumpster fire of a season, considered safe heading into Year 2.
But Carroll? That’s a different story. “He’s already fired two coordinators,” Jones reported, pointing to the chaos within the Raiders coaching staff. “He didn’t get the quarterback right. This defense isn’t playing very well. The offensive line was not figured out and will not be figured out this season.”
Could the Raiders go in a different direction and find a new head coach after the season?

The nepotism allegations add another layer of dysfunction. Jones mentioned claims that Carroll brought two of his sons onto the coaching staff, raising eyebrows around the league given their lack of success outside their father’s shadow. These personnel decisions, combined with the team’s failures, are cascading into a potential organizational reckoning.
“A lot of folks within the NFL would not be surprised if, at the end of the season, the Las Vegas Raiders’ job winds up becoming open,” Jones concluded, essentially writing Carroll’s coaching obituary with four games still remaining.
