The Chicago Bears are playing without a proper head coach right now after firing Matt Eberflus.
Eberflus was recently let go after his game management was not NFL-worthy in Week 13’s game against the Detroit Lions. While the decision was indeed disappointing, it seemed crucial for Chicago. The Bears are now on the hunt for a new head coach in the upcoming season.
While a number of names have been tossed around as potential candidates for Chicago’s head coach, Pete Carroll seems to be the lead contender. According to the NFL insider, Yogi Roth, Carroll, who previously coached the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks, still has plenty of coaching years left inside him, and is excited to take the job.
“I know this. I know Pete Carroll wants to coach. This guy is a crazy competitor. I don’t know if that’s the place or not, but I know that, since he finished coaching in Seattle, he has not stopped competing. I mean, I talked to him, he’s still coaching me up on being a better husband, being a better father, being a better minority owner in the Paris Musketeers, his energy to coaching is still there. So who knows how that shakes out with another bunch of other openings” Yogi Roth said.

The 73-year-old is currently an advisor for the Seattle Seahawks, after leaving an active coaching position. While many did hint that Carroll may after all retire from the sport since he is getting along in his years, the coach did exactly the opposite of that. While Carroll being hired by the Chicago Bears is a great call, it will still be slightly unconventional for the team.
Chicago Bears Might Already Be In Trouble Before Game Against 49ers
The Chicago Bears are scheduled to take on the San Francisco 49ers next in the NFL season. However, even before the game, the team is filled with problems, with Coach Matt Eberflus being fired and a number of players being injured. Last week, the Bears played the Detroit Lions and lost the game 23-20 after a wrong decision by Eberflus.
Instead of Eberflus, the Bears will play under Thomas Brown who was the team’s passing coordinator. Chicago also has a number of injured players, with wide receiver DJ Moore being questionable for the next game against the 49ers, along with running back D’Andre Swift. Currently, the Chicago Bears are last in the NFC North after winning four games and losing eight.
