On Tuesday night, 9-1, Penn State was ranked fourth in the third edition of the college football playoff rankings, which left many people around the sport angry.

College football fans are mad that the Nittany Lions keep ranking in the Top Five each week even though they have no big wins on their resume. Their biggest game was against Ohio State, which they lost at home by a touchdown.
Penn State Would Be A Home Underdog
Penn State looks to be in the perfect position to win out and host a home playoff game, but that matchup might cause major issues for the Nittany Lions.
If the season ended today, Penn State would be the sixth seed since it didn’t win the Big Ten and can’t get a top-four seed. It would be hosting 11-seed Georgia.
Georgia has struggled of late and has not looked like the team we have seen the last three years, but they are still talented on both sides of the ball and could roll into Happy Valley and get the win.
Even though Penn State would be hosting the game in the freezing cold, oddsmakers don’t see them as the favorite in the matchup. Josh Pate from CBS Sports posted on X a projected first-round college football playoff spread from the FanDuel sports book, which had Georgia as the 1.5-point favorite.

It’s probably a shock to many Nittany Lions fans that Georgia would be almost a two-point favorite, but fans should feel good that they would get the game at home in the middle of December, and Georgia would have to come up from the warm south to play the game.

There are still a few weeks left to go this season, so there is a great chance we won’t even see this matchup, but if we do, it’ll be fun.
