Wyoming quarterback Andrew Peasley was awarded Offensive Player of the Week and kicker John Hoyland won Special Teams Player of the Week. Peasley put in the best performance of his young Wyoming career. Hoyland had a career day as the Cowboys picked up their first win of the season.

    Peasley Bounces Back

Andrew Peasley went 20/30 for 256 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in his second game with the Cowboys. The junior transfer from Utah State improved on a bad performance at Illinois last week, where he completed only five passes for 30 yards.

He found Will Pelissier for a 48 yard touchdown with less than a minute before halftime and gave the Cowboys a 17-13 lead.

    Big time play.

Joshua Cobbs caught the second touchdown pass. Peasley found the wide open receiver for a 51 yard strike to tie the game at 34 with 6:34 remaining in the game.

    Hoyland’s Career Day

Hoyland set a career high for field goals made in a game as he went 4/5. He also hit a career long 55-yarder, which cut the Tulsa lead to 34-27 early in the fourth quarter.

His only miss came as he attempted a 44-yard game winning kick with the score tied at 34. The kick hit off the very top of the upright, sending the game to overtime.

After Tulsa kicked a field goal on their overtime possession, Hoyland was called on to tie the game. The junior kicker’s confidence was not shaken by his earlier miss and he calmly hit the 25 yard field goal.

Hoyland converted a 30 yard field goal in double overtime to give the Cowboys the lead 40-37. The kick was the eventual game winner as Tulsa missed a field goal on their possession.
