The Ole Miss head coach, Lane Kiffin, enjoys the spotlight from three schools in LSU, Florida, and the Rebels, and while it’s an exciting time for him, many analysts express their frustration over what it might mean for his current team.
During Saturday’s College football game day coverage, Nick Saban talked about how the Lane Kiffin situation brings out a major flaw in the college football ecosystem, as he believes it’s unfair to the players if their head coach decides to leave in the middle of the program.

Saban further said that there needs to be leadership in the sport to establish some rules, where it should not be allowed for the teams to contact head coaches from other programs in the middle of the season.
The conversation is set in place as Ole Miss is currently sitting at an overall record of 10-1, with just a blink away from reaching their playoff chances; however, if Kiffin decides to take an exit for another program, it might affect the Rebels’ chances in the eyes of the committee.
Paul Finebaum disagreed with Saban’s blame on the system and called Kiffin the real villain in the situation.
“The thing that bothers me the most is you get people who just blast college football,” Finebaum told Barrie, referencing the commentary. “I heard one of our good friends say yesterday on GameDay, ‘Hey, we got to do something about this.’”
“Matt, we have to do something about everything and it’s not ever going to get done, okay,” Finebaum lectured. “So, when somebody is flirting with three different schools, including the one you currently work for, that is on you. It is not on the system.”
“So let’s not blame the Playoff and let’s not blame the calendar. Let’s blame the villain in all this, who is Lane Kiffin.” Finebaum said.
Nick Saban Weighs In on Which One Is the Better Job for Lane Kiffin Amid Florida, LSU, Ole Miss Saga
Many analysts debate about what’s better for Lane Kiffin between Ole Miss, Florida, and LSU, as some believe the job he has right now has everything he could ask for and that he should continue building his legacy there, while others believe he has more chances of winning national championships at the other two programs.
Saban, who is a 7x national champion, weighed in on his opinion about the situation and said that while some programs used to be better in the olden days, it may not be the case anymore.
The ex-Alabama head coach said that while a good job was defined by a good facility, fan support, recruiting base, and factors like that, now it’s more about how much money the program is going to spend to build a roster.
He further added that while he can get anything he wants from a roster standpoint from the Rebels, it may not be the case with LSU or Florida.
