Bill Belichick is entering his first season as a coach in college football after one of the best careers at the NFL coaching level, winning six Super Bowls with the New England Patriots. With people speculating what he could do at the collegiate level, there have been some intriguing conversations regarding his legacy.
Paul Finebaum is one of the people who are questioning what Belichick could do, and his belief is that the legendary coach will struggle to find success at North Carolina. Let’s take a closer look at what Finebaum said about Belichick.
Paul Finebaum Not Expecting Much from Bill Belichick in 2025

While discussing if there is any worry for Bill Belichick damaging his legacy with the North Carolina Tar Heels on Friday’s edition of Get Up, Paul Finebaum believes it could continue to decline.
“There’s some, because (his legacy) has already been diminished. We all know he’s won six Super Bowls. It’s the greatest NFL career of all time. But we often remember what you do last. I mean, Willie Mays was my favorite player as a kid, but I remember him dropping a fly ball in the World Series. It happens, I’m afraid for Bill Belichick, it’s going to happen again.”
Belichick has been a lot more public with his off-the-field life than he was with the New England Patriots. With the North Carolina Tar Heels season beginning in about six weeks, we are getting closer to seeing how he does on Saturdays.
This is not the unanimous thought for the media though as people like Joel Klatt are buying stock into the program. It will be interesting to see how the Tar Heels look with Belichick leading the way with his cut-up sweatshirts and how he navigates the Atlantic Coast Conference and maybe even a College Football Playoff berth.
