You can never have too much depth on a football team, and the New England Patriots proved just that by reuniting with three-time Super Bowl champion offensive tackle Marcus Cannon. Cannon spent nine seasons with the team from 2011-2019. He started 69 games in that span.
Cannon opted out of the 2020 season due to Covid concerns before joining the Houston Texans by means of the trade for the 2021 season. In four games played with the team, he started them all.
Cannon adds a lot of experience and depth to a Patriots offensive line that appears to be struggling with the new zone-blocking offensive scheme. Even at the age of 34, the amount of experience he provides, even in the biggest moments, can only help the Patriots as the young and inexperienced team faces a tough task ahead in the 2022 season.
