“Gibbens was clearly raised right ❤ ️👏” reads the original post that shared Stevens’ interview, throwing the door open for more online hailings. “Awesome guy!” goes X user @Lockpickworld76 while @SolfartNation deems it “Good to see respect” from the 27-year-old football star.
Dave Stevens, who turned 60 in January, is a pathfinding amputee athlete and 7-time Emmy Award-winning sports broadcasting professional. He stands 3 feet 2 inches tall and runs on the field using his hands. Today, the father of three boys reports for the Disability Channel and co-hosts an annual Celebrity Amputee Golf tournament in the Orlando area.
The interview saw Stevens question the star LB about the team’s qualification for the Super Bowl and its hopes of rewriting the New England Patriots’ legacy. Stevens also pried into the relationship between the head coach and the team.
Heartwarming: Patriots star LB Jack Gibbens joined reporter Dave Stevens on the floor so he could interview him.
“Well, you’re a linebacker, you’re used to sitting people down with one hit, so thanks for coming down to my level for a moment.”

“Man, it’s got to be exciting to reunite with your old head coach to come here, and now be in the Super Bowl,” asked Stevens. “Yeah, it’s been an unbelievable year. Love this team, love the guys, love the coaching staff. It’s just been awesome. I think we have a superconnected group,” Gibbens responded, praising his team’s unity ahead of Sunday’s Super Bowl LX outing against the Seattle Seahawks.
Stevens also wondered about whether head coach Mike Vrabel, who coached him at the Tennessee Titans, used the same coaching style as he always did. Gibbens claims the gaffer hasn’t changed much. “Man, I feel like he’s the same guy that he is. He’s got to hold people to a high standard, but also he cares about the players on a personal level. So, he’s able to relate to us and that allows him to hold us accountable, hold us to that high standard.”
For many fans, the video doesn’t just motivate them against the Super Bowl; it also shows memorable moments that are “bigger than football”. As X user @Oxdemon1 puts it while praising the LB, “Class act from Gibbens, pure respect and heart. Moments like this are bigger than football.”
