The New England Patriots are going into the 2025 season looking to prove that they have a future with their current roster.  New head coach Mike Vrabel is facing a tall order competing with the Buffalo Bills in his same division.

However, New England is facing a completely different kind of set back today.

Following a season as defensive line coach/run game coordinator at the Detroit Lions in 2024, Terrell Williams joined New England as defensive coordinator:

He has had several medical scares in his short time with the team.

The latest one might be the scariest: Williams collapsed on the sidelines during the Patriots’ practice on Monday.

Things got so bad that a stretcher had to be brought out for him.

Luckily, he would not need it as he was able to stand up under his own power.

Williams missed an extended period of time in the spring due to undisclosed health issues.

Assuming no setbacks, Terrell Williams will likely be back in Foxboro soon to begin his first official season as defensive coordinator.

He and Vrabel will be tasked with improving the Patriots’ defense from last year, when the unit ranked 22nd in the NFL with 24.5 points allowed per game

Terrell Williams needs all of the prayers as 2025 has been filled with frightening moments for him.

The New England Patriots defensive coordinator spoke to reporters in May to update them on a medical situation that kept him away from Foxboro for a rookie minicamp practice.

Williams confirmed that he was “doing OK,” but he did have an issue that has forced him to take his personal health more seriously.

“I came back home here to Detroit for spring break and had a little medical scare — I mean, it wasn’t a ‘little’ medical scare, it was a medical scare,” Williams said.

“Since then, per doctor’s orders, I’ve kind of stayed here in Detroit and been handling that. While I’m talking about it, I want to talk about the seriousness of taking care of our health and loving the people we love. Because when something traumatic happens, and it was traumatic for me, it gave me an opportunity to reflect and look back at the people I care about that make a difference in my life.

“I was able to do that, and also it gave me a reminder that sometimes, as coaches, media folks, and athletes and doctors and whoever, we think we’re invincible — we’re not. I’m just telling you, you’re not. So, this was a good wake-up call for me, and it was a good wake-up call for my close friends and people I know in my profession around the league and in general.”

Terrell Williams appeared to be doing well the past two months, but his recent collapse on the field has made things scary again.
