Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes expressed his reaction upon discovering that NFL legend Tom Brady has purchased his rookie card for $7,500.

In one of the most recent videos of Complex, seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady went out to shop for sports cards. During the video, Brady spotted one card: an 8.5 graded 2017 Donruss Optic signed card of Patrick Mahomes.

“I see this one, this Patrick Mahomes, I didn’t even see that one,” Brady said when he discovered the $7,500 card. “When did this come in? I want that in my collection, save that, make sure you don’t sell that one. That is definitely in my collection.”

Patrick Mahomes was drafted 10th overall in the 2017 NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs traded up to select him, seeing his potential as a future franchise quarterback.

Mahomes himself went to the comments section of the video to chime in on his reaction to Brady dishing out that much for his card.

“Let me get that! @tombrady,” Mahomes wrote in the comments.

Tom Brady Gets Honest About Patrick Mahomes Chasing His Records

In the same video, Tom Brady was also asked about the idea of Patrick Mahomes chasing down his records and eventually, maybe even breaking them.

“If he does break the records, and last year they had a chance to go for a threepeat, I would have been so happy to be there, to watch it,” Brady said. “When you accomplish a lot, and I was very fortunate to do that, you have people who are doing incredible things. I always think we should talk about those things, how remarkable they really are, because that’s what’s inspiring about it.”

Patrick Mahomes is steadily closing in on some of Tom Brady’s legendary records, thanks to his remarkable consistency and dominance in the NFL. In his first seven seasons as a starter, Mahomes has already won three Super Bowls, matching Brady’s total in the same timeframe.

He has also attended six Pro Bowls, compared to Brady’s three in his first seven seasons. Additionally, Mahomes secured two MVP awards before Brady earned his first, showcasing his rapid rise as one of the league’s most decorated quarterbacks.

Additionally, his win percentage of .826 is the highest of any quarterback since 1950, meaning he could eventually challenge Brady’s 230 career wins. If Patrick Mahomes continues to win at his current rate, he would need 234 more starts to reach Brady’s total, which could happen by the 2034 season.
