Patrick Mahomes rallies behind Jayson Tatum’s season-ending Achilles injury acquired during Monday’s game four against the New York Knicks.
Jayson Tatum, averaging 28.1 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 5.4 assists in this season’s playoffs, ruptured his Achilles three minutes left in the fourth after falling to the floor as he tried to lunge for a loose ball on the top of the basket. The Boston Celtics lost that game, 113-121, to the Knicks.
The former Duke Blue Devil suffered an injury so severe that he had to be helped off the floor and left TD Garden in a wheelchair.
In his X/Twitter post on Tuesday, Patrick Mahomes sent love to Tatum, tweeting: “Prayers up man…..” along with three praying emojis.

Mahomes himself is no stranger to injuries, battling several painful setbacks across eight seasons. Last season, he also acquired ankle sprains, fortunately not season-ending, allowing him and the Kansas City Chiefs to advance to the Super Bowl three consecutive times.

Back to the Tatum situation, he is undergoing surgery to repair his ruptured Achilles. The six-time All-Star’s return to the court remains uncertain, but he wouldn’t be with the Celtics as they are now on the brink of elimination by the Knicks, 1-3, in the semifinals.

Despite losing their star player, Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla remains confident that Tatum will recover from his injury.
“He’s the type of guy, he gets right up. So he didn’t and we’ll know tomorrow exactly what it is. But yeah, I mean it’s tough to watch a guy like him get carried like that,” Mazzulla said.
The Celtics will attempt to recover in Wednesday’s Game 5.
Patrick Mahomes ecstatic after Dallas Mavericks tops draft lottery
Patrick Mahomes joins Dallas Mavericks fans in celebrating the team’s unexpected win of the top pick in Monday night’s Draft Lottery. The Mavericks, who finished 39-43 last season, had just a 1.8% chance of landing the first overall pick—widely expected to be Duke’s Cooper Flagg.

In his X/Twitter account, Mahomes tweeted: “GOOO @dallasmavs,” showing he’s firmly along among the Mavericks’ faithful.

The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback’s reaction and everyone with Dallas made it clear that they’re seeking the Mavericks to redeem themselves after being involved in heavy controversies this season.

The biggest one is last February’s Luka Doncic-Anthony Davis trade, shocking the basketball world for its boldness. Moreover, the sudden switch heavily contributed to the Mavericks’ huge drop in the West, leaving them out of the playoffs after being Finals contenders last season.
With hopes of Cooper Flagg landing on the Mavericks, it remains uncertain whether he’ll bring the right formula to bring the team back to its fortunes.
