The Las Vegas Raiders may have made a grave mistake when players used a Kermit The Frog puppet to taunt Kansas City Chiefs three-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ voice.
Throughout his career, many have suggested that Mahomes’ voice sounds like the beloved Muppet character’s, and the Raiders played it up on the sideline prior to an early training camp practice.
Mahomes needed only seven words to fire back at the Raiders for their potentially ill-advised taunt.
“It’ll get handled when it gets handled,” Mahomes told reporters following practice on July 26.
The Chiefs and Raiders are set to square off for the first time this season in Week 8, in Las Vegas, before the AFC West rivals meet again on Black Friday inside what is bound to be a charged up atmosphere at Arrowhead Stadium.
While Las Vegas knocked off the Chiefs in a game pivotal to Kansas City’s playoff seeding on Christmas day last season, Mahomes boasts a 10-2 record against the Raiders.
Moreover, Mahomes has completed 66.2 percent of his passes for 3,573 yards with 30 touchdowns to just four interceptions in those 12 contests against the bitter AFC West foes.
There’s a very real possibility that the Raiders are going to learn a difficult and disappointing lesson about giving Mahomes added motivation when the team square off later this fall.
