The Green Bay Packers and Tennessee Titans are going into the 2024 season looking to compete in their respective conferences. The Packers are coming off a 9-8 season that saw them get hot during during the second half of the season, winning seven of their last 10 games. That included a massive win over the Dallas Cowboys in the playoffs and a narrow defeat to the San Francisco 49ers in the Divisional Round.
Tennessee is coming off a disappointing 6-11 season and have undergone fairly significant changes this off-season. Another one of those changes happened today as the two teams agreed to a trade.
The Green Bay Packers And Tennessee Titans Agree To Shocking Quarterback Trade
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN:
QB trade: Titans are sending QB Malik Willis to the Packers in exchange for a 2025 seventh-round pick, per sources. Willis is likely to back up Jordan Love.
In the wake of Tennessee signing Mason Rudolph from the Pittsburgh Steelers, Willis has been competing for the No. 2 spot behind Will Levis.
In Tennessee’s 30-27 victory against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, Willis threw two fourth-quarter touchdown passes after Rudolph completed 11-of-15 passes for 114 yards with no touchdowns and no interceptions.
With 9:40 left, Willis threw a 34-yard TD pass to wide receiver Bryce Oliver to give the Titans a 23-20 lead. Willis then connected on a 5-yard TD pass to Oliver with 1:25 remaining to put Tennessee back in front.
Willis completed 20 of 27 passes for 205 yards with two touchdowns and one interception, as well as running 11 times for 101 yards in three preseason games. During the preseason, Willis led the Titans in rushing.
Willis is widely expected to be Jordan Love’s backup.
