The Green Bay Packers entered the 2024 season with expectations of competing for a playoff spot, at the very minimum. After making it to the division round last season, Green Bay wants to make it either further this season.
So far, Green Bay is 10-4 and can lock up a playoff spot if they beat the New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football.
However, their path to the post-season just became clear.
Breaking: Packers Eliminated From The NFC North Title Race (Report)
While Green Bay’s playoff hopes are alive and well, their chances of winning the NFC North are gone:
Going into Week 16, the only path for the Green Bay Packers to to win the NFC North title involved the Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings losing out until the final week of the season, the Packers winning out the rest of the way and the Lions and Vikings tying in Week 18.
This would have placed Green Bay at the top of the north with a 13-4 record, while the Lions and Vikings tied for second with 12-4-1 marks.
On Sunday, though, the Packers’ slim divisional champion hopes vanishes when the Chicago Bears dropped by a score of 34-17 to the Lions, mathematically eliminating Green Bay from the NFC North title race.
It had been clear for a few weeks now that Green Bay’s most likely path to the post season was through the wild card. Here is a look at their remaining opponents:
- Vs Saints
- @ Vikings
- Vs Bears
There is a very real possibility Green Bay will finish the season with 12 wins and enter the playoffs as a wild card team. The NFC is extremely competitive this year.
