The Green Bay Packers have been without QB Jordan Love since the final seconds of their week one loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. While the initial concern was that Love would miss a significant portion of the season, it turned out to be quite the opposite.
Love has practiced all week leading up to their bout with the Titans, however, Green Bay made an official decision on their starting QB for this week.
Breaking: Packers Announce Starter For Week 3 Matchup Vs. Titans (Report)
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero:
The #Packers haven’t ruled out QB Jordan Love, but Malik Willis is expected to get his second start Sunday at Tennessee, sources tell me and Ian Rapoport.
Love (MCL sprain) was at practice all week and is getting closer. But it most likely will be at least another week.
Despite being drafted by Tennesee in the third round, Willis was not able to take over as the team’s full-time starter. Behind starter Will Levis and backup Mason Rudolph on this offseason’s depth chart, Willis was the third quarterback on the Titans’ depth chart. Titans management was interested in keeping him around as a third quarterback, but the Packers offered them a 2025 seventh-round pick in exchange.
Willis doesn’t see this contest against the Titans as a revenge game despite playing against the team that traded him a month ago:
“I could care less, bro. I think I got paid the whole time I was there,”Willis said via The Athletic insider Matt Schneidman. “I’m more than blessed for the opportunity they’ve given me.
They brought me into this league, whether those guys are there or not. That organization, they took a shot on me. Miss Amy, they (did) great job by me, for all I’m concerned.”
