The Green Bay Packers Announce Devastating News
According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network:
The #Packers placed RB AJ Dillon (neck) on injured reserve and didn’t designate him to return. He’s officially out for the entire 2024 season.
Any time a neck injury ends a season, it calls into question the future of that player’s career.
Following his placement on injured reserve on Tuesday, Dillon won’t be able to return for the remainder of the 2024 season.
Although stingers aren’t usually serious issues, there seems to be some complication that will keep him sidelined for a while. Josh Jacobs will likely take over the bulk of Green Bay’s backfield work for the foreseeable future, with rookie MarShawn Lloyd (hamstring) set to miss the first four games.
Dillon’s time with Green Bay could very well be over. He signed a one year contract earlier this off-season, however, it is unlikely the Packers will bring him back after this season.
Last season, Dillon ran 178 times for 613 yards and two touchdowns. Over the course of his four-year career, he has carried 597 times for 2,428 yards and 16 touchdowns.
