What’s up, y’all? It is Monday, so it is time to give you the PAC 12 power rankings for week 10. Second only to the SEC in terms of strength in conferences. The ACC, Big 12 and Big 10 are not on the same level as the Pacific coast boys this year in my mind. Top to bottom, this conference can beat teams from anywhere in the country.
PAC 12 Power Rankings: Playoff Contenders
#1 Oregon
I don’t really think this debatable for the PAC 12 power rankings. The Ducks did have a first game bad loss to one of the best teams in the country. Since then, Bo Nix has been a Heisman caliber QB. The offense has played unbelievable, scoring over 40 points in seven games. The defense has played great complimentary football, holding teams to an average of 25 points a game. This team is a real playoff contender if they can get through the rest of their conference schedule without a loss. Watch out for the DUCKS!
#2 UCLA
This team suffered a tough first loss two weeks ago, but bounced right back. They hosted Stanford and beat them the way a good team does. They can still win the PAC 12 title and make the playoff if they win a rematch versus Oregon. DTR still has Heisman aspirations if he continues to play amazing and they win out. Don’t count out this Bruins team and Chip Kelly just yet. They are very dangerous.
#3 Utah
Now I really don’t think Utah has a shot in hell at the playoff, but they are third in the PAC 12 power rankings. They would need a lot of weird shit to happen to make the playoff, but could make the PAC 12 championship if they win out and get help. I had to put them ahead of USC because we watched that game. I don’t know what would happen if they play again. Utah winning in Pullman on a Friday night without their starting star QB is impressive. I had to have them ahead of the Trojans, who didn’t look great this week.
#4 USC
Look, they still have a very good shot at making the playoff. In fact, they control their own destiny in my opinion to make the PAC 12 championship and the playoff. They need to continue to win, knock off the Bruins and hope Oregon doesn’t lose a game until they play in the title game. If those things happen, and they are all very likely to happen, the boys from Troy will be fine. Now I have them below Utah and the Bruins because they lost to Utah and didn’t look great on defense versus a bad Arizona team. If they were to play UCLA tomorrow the Bruins would kill them. Good thing that game is a few weeks out.
PAC 12 Power Rankings: Good Teams
#5 Oregon State
First off, they have the best nickname in the country; the Beavers. Yes, I know I am immature but that joke still plays for me. The Beavers have only lost to Utah and USC; two teams that have playoff and PAC 12 aspirations. They are the definition of a team. They don’t do anything particularly the best, but do everything really well. They are good on offense, defense, and special teams. If they don’t turn the ball over, they will beat you. Trust me, no one in the PAC 12 wants to go into Corvallis and Oregon has a hell of a game coming the end of November.
#6 Washington
I would have a lot more faith if this team didn’t lose to Arizona State. They have an explosive offense lead by Micheal Penix Jr. who leads college football in yards thrown. A few things go the Huskies’ way, they have an outside shot at the PAC 12 title. It is not likely, but could happen. They could definitely ruin both teams from Oregon’s years. I was not high on this team this year, but I can’t deny the offensive fire power and they are just fun to watch.
#7 Washington State
I think I am wrong on this team, but I don’t care. I love watching every game the Cougs are playing. They hit huge plays in the passing game and their defense can turn you over. They are mostly two and three start players balling out versus four and five stars and hold their own. I want so badly for them to go bowling this year and I think they will. They need to win two out of their last four games to do this. I think they finish 7-5 at the worst. GO COUGS!
PAC 12 Power Rankings:Eh Teams
#8 Stanford
This team is competitive in every game they play for the most part. They beat Notre Dame and Arizona State in very close games and barely lost to Oregon State. They have talent on the offensive side of the ball, they just need to bring it all together. Maybe they upset Utah and change my mind on that?
#9Arizona State
I have the Sun Devils at the 8th place in the PAC 12 power rankings because they are exactly average. The win versus Washington was a bit eye opening, but you can’t lose to Stanford and Eastern Michigan; like, what is that?
PAC 12 Power Rankings:Always Bad
#10 Cal, Arizona, Colorado
Cal needs another Aaron Rodgers. Arizona needs Gronk to come back and coach. Colorado should play Kordell Stewart at 50 something rather than their QBs. Not worth talking about. All very bad. Yes, I am getting lazy after writing all these. Suck it.
Yeah, I got lazy on the last three, but I would never bet on them on Units Only Go Up or talk about them on the Spiked College Football Show. I am sure I will get a few of their fans in my twitter messages like I usually do when I make fun of or don’t mention someone’s team. College football fans are so soft.
