Oregon has been on fire since getting their butts handed to them by the Georgia Bulldogs in week one. Last week they beat Eastern Washington 70-14, and this week they beat twelfth rank BYU 41-20.
It was a convincing win by the Ducks at home, but in the process a couple students got a little bit out of pocket. There where a handful of Oregon students caught on video chanting “F*** the Mormons”.
For ones who don’t know, BYU is a Mormon university and most of its students and staff are of the Mormon faith.
The video has made its rounds on the internet, and you can obviously see the students say the chant repeatedly. Warning the video contains vulgar language that may be offensive to some.

The Oregon Pit Crew Twitter page, which is the social media page of Oregon’s student section, has apologized for what transpired during Saturday’s game. Saying they don’t “condone” the hateful rhetoric in the video.

Soon after the Oregon’s Student section made their apology, the schools Interim Vice president of Student Life Kris Winter, made an apology on behalf of the university. He stated, “there is no place for hate, bias or bigotry at the University of Oregon”. Winter also mentioned that the university will investigate the incident.

Even though it was a few students this is a bad look for the Nike branded university. It even got to the point were Utah’s governor Spencer Cox called out Oregon, and demanded an apology.
Religion may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but situations such as these is what keeps our country constantly divided. The chants by the students were immature and way out of line. It will be interesting to see what punishment Oregon gives the students for their comments.
