Oregon did the almost impossible this season going into the Big Ten in their first year, beating Ohio State, Michigan, and Penn State without losing a single game.
The Ducks established themselves as the best team in the country after their 45-37 win over the Nittany Lions in the Big Ten title game, and they earned the first seed in the college football playoffs.
While Oregon was able to get one of the Four Byes, they did get a difficult path to the title game, with their first playoff game having to come against the winner of Tennessee vs Ohio State.
Penn State, which had two losses and lost to Oregon, ended up getting the sixth seed, which gives them a home playoff game against SMU and then a game against Boise State. Those are two teams that aren’t even 12 of the best teams in the country.
Many college football fans were angry that the Ducks faced such a difficult path, and some said they should’ve lost on Saturday night on purpose to earn an easier spot in the playoffs.
