The Cleveland Browns finished with a 3-14 record during the 2024 NFL season. Cleveland had a bad 2024 season after making the playoffs in 2023.

Entering the 2025 NFL season, there are people wondering if head coach Kevin Stefanski and general manager Andrew Berry are on the hot seat or not. Stefanski has won two coach of the year awards during his tenure with Cleveland. He has made the playoffs a couple of times and despite some of the quarterback issues, he should not be going anywhere and neither should Berry. A lot of the issues fall on owner Jimmy Haslam.
Cleveland Browns Radio Debates Whether or Not Kevin Stefanski and Andrew Berry Should Be On the Hot Seat

Ken Carman and Anthony Lima discussed about the job security of Stefanski and Berry entering the 2025 NFL season. Carman said about the job security of Stefanski and Berry entering the 2025 NFL season,
“I don’t want them to start the season on the hot seat. I think it’s a waste of time…that could also change, drastically, halfway through the year.”
It is going to depend on a lot of things. One of the things it will depend on is the quarterback battle. Dillon Gabriel, Shedeur Sanders, Joe Flacco, and Kenny Pickett will compete for the starting spot. There is a chance that none of those guys are the answer and that they will draft a quarterback in 2026 for the future and have that as their job security.
Cleveland should not put Berry and Stefanski on the hot seat. It was not their fault what happened with Deshaun Watson. The owner wanted Watson and then that hefty contract occurred. Hopefully, ownership will get out of the way of their decisions. This will be the sixth season that Stefanski is the head coach of the Browns. He has a 40-44 record.
Berry has also been Cleveland’s general manager since 2020. In reality, they are a package deal. So if the Browns have another bad season, ownership will have to decide if it is worth it or not to fire both of them. That would mean that Cleveland is starting all over and would need to find a new head coach and general manager.
However, if Stefanski were to be fired, there is no doubt that other NFL teams would be lining up to hire him in two seconds. Stefanski is only 43 years old, and Berry is only 38 years old. These are still young people in the NFL business and the 2025 season could be a wash anyways. The big plans for them maybe the 2026 NFL Draft and finding its long-term answer at franchise quarterback because they won’t be finding it this year.
