Ole Miss Rebels Head Coach Lane Kiffin Takes Jab At Auburn Tigers Head Coach Hugh Freeze During SEC Coaches Teleconference On Wednesday
The Auburn Tigers are 2-2 to start the college football season and are 0-1 in SEC Conference play. There has been a lot of criticism over the week about Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze. One of the biggest issues with college football right now is NIL. On an SEC Coaches Teleconference on Wednesday Freeze said about the Ole Miss Rebels program:
“I think in the new world, that’s become harder and harder to do and you’re constantly searching ways with this new way of transferring and NIL to figure out exactly how to do it. I think there’s some who are doing it well, if you look at like Ole Miss and Missouri, I think they’ve done some really good things it looks like and trying to use NIL to their advantage and they’ve been able to maintain a winning edge.”
The Rebels and the Tigers have a good chance to make the college football playoffs this season in the SEC Conference. As for the Auburn Tigers, they may be toward the bottom of the SEC Conference. During the call. Lane Kiffin was next and didn’t like what he had to say. On3.com writer Griffin McVeigh added:
“At first, he was appreciative of what was said but then decided to call Freeze out by saying he might attempt to steal The Grove Collective’s leader, Walker Jones, away from the program.”
Kiffin then said:
“That is nice of Coach Freeze to compliment our management of our collective. I’m sure he’ll try to steal Walker Jones like he’s tried all of our coaches also.”
The Ole Miss Rebels are in a better spot as a football program right now than the Auburn Tigers are. Auburn is still a couple of years away from being contenders in the SEC.
Hugh Freeze Used To Coach the Rebels
Hugh Freeze was the head coach of the Ole Miss Rebels from 2012-2016. He has been the head coach of the Auburn Tigers for the last two seasons. One of the reasons why Hugh Freeze came back to the SEC is because he had success with Liberty from 2019 to 2022.
He is trying to get Auburn back on the map as a college football program. However, there was no need to take personal shots at Ole Miss Rebels head coach Lane Kiffin also.
