The Ole Miss Rebels a season ago went 11-2 under head coach Lane Kiffin and they will have high expectations this season with a Heisman Trophy-caliber quarterback on the roster. Ole Miss has a great chance to make it to the expanded College Football Playoffs this season.
Last season, LSU Tigers quarterback Jayden Daniels won the Heisman Trophy. This season, Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Carson Beck and Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers will be a couple of the favorites to win the Heisman Trophy this season in the SEC, but there are other candidates that could emerge onto the scene.
Ole Miss Rebels Starting Quarterback Jaxson Dart Could Be a Dark Horse Candidate To Win the Heisman Trophy in 2024
There have been times throughout college football when players come out of nowhere to win the Heisman Trophy. Rebels starting quarterback Jaxson Dart could be a dark horse candidate to win the award this season.
Dart will be entering his senior season with Ole Miss. He could be a candidate who could secretly climb up NFL Draft boards throughout the course of the college football season. Jaxson Dart is 6’2″ and weighs 220 lbs.
Last season with the Ole Miss Rebels, he completed 65.1% of his passes for 3,364 yards, 23 touchdowns, and five interceptions. Dart also rushed for 391 yards on 119 carries and eight touchdowns. He averaged 3.3 yards per rush. Pro Football Focus Max Chadwick said on his podcast about Dart:
“Ole Miss is going to be competing for a college football playoff berth next year, and a big, big reason for that is Jaxson Dart. If you want a dark horse, Heisman, I think Jaxson Dart is a really good pick. They are going to throw the ball a ton next year with Quinshon Judkins leaving. They have some really, really fun weapons at Ole Miss.”
The Rebels have a great chance to do well once again in college football this season. With Ole Miss, they can be one of the three best teams in the SEC along with the Georgia Bulldogs and the Texas Longhorns because of elite quarterback play.
Jaxson Dart has the fifth-best odds to win the Heisman Trophy on FanDuel Sportsbook at +1500. Beck has the best odds at +750 and Ewers has the second-best odds at +900. Dart has a really good chance to hit the target this season for the Ole Miss Rebels this season to make the College Football Playoff. If you want a dark horse candidate to win the trophy, he would be an interesting selection.
