Ole Miss Debuts New 2024 Uniform: Are They a Hit or a Miss?

Ole Miss Football has joined in on the unveiling of new uniforms. In the last couple of weeks, teams, including TCU, Iowa State, and West Virginia, have been releasing their new uniform designs, and the general feeling has been that teams, particularly affiliated with Nike, are going with a design that is too simple and classic.

Of course, Nike is very much ahead of knowing trends and fashion. Still, many have wondered whether Nike has gone too far with the new trend of being simple and classic, a style that differs greatly from the flashy style/alternative uniforms every game style that has dominated the game the past decade or so.

Ole Miss Announces New Uniform Combo

If a single uniform trend has dominated this offseason, it is the “icy whites.” For some teams, it doesn’t look great, but for Ole Miss, it works well. Ole Miss uses powder blue as a secondary color that has become more popular in the past few years, and they elected to take on the icy look with powder blue.

It is unclear whether Ole Miss will release an entirely new series of uniforms or whether the white uniform is the only new style. It is also unclear whether it will replace the traditional dark blue and red uniform that Ole Miss has worn for years.

Does the Uniform Combo Work Well?

As someone who hasn’t jumped on overly basic uniforms, this uniform is an exception. It should be the standard example Nike uses to promote this style to other schools nationwide. The powder blues with the white give it a true “icy” look, and the tiny red “Ole Miss” over the number gives a small but very strong contrast that makes the uniform pop.

Of all the Nike uniforms released this year, Ole Miss is clearly the best. After that, West Virginia looks pretty good, and everyone feels it is forcing itself to be too simple or, in some cases, even abandoning color schemes and colors to accommodate the new look and style.
