The Oklahoma State Cowboys and the Oklahoma Sooners are in different conferences after being rivals in the Big12 Conference for so long. Oklahoma is in the SEC and Oklahoma State is in the Big12 Conference still.

Cowboys head coach Mike Gundy did not have a very good 2024 season and neither did the Sooners. Both football programs are wondering what to do about spring games in preparation for the 2025 college football season.
Oklahoma State Cowboys Head Coach Mike Gundy Makes Announcement For Spring Football

Earlier in the spring Deion Sanders of the Colorado Buffaloes wanted to see if someone would come down and face them in a spring football game. Fran Brown of the Syracuse Orange offered to go down and practice with them.
Well, Cowboys head coach Gundy is looking to potentially revive the Bedlam rivalry in the spring with the Sooners and head coach Brett Venables. Gundy said to the media,
“That’s something we’ve talked about. I think it’s a great idea… Honestly, for us, we should do a home and home with OU in the spring… They should come here on the 19th. I think their’s is earlier in the year, we should go down there and play a home-and-home against each other in the spring. Charge $25 a head, they can use it for NIL, we can use it for NIL. If they don’t want to do two in one spring, we can do one here this year, do it there next year, and split the gate. Because we get tired of practicing against each other.”
It would be interesting to see if that would happen and how it would go for both programs. With NIL becoming the story of college sports, the Cowboys and the Sooners could both use the money. If Oklahoma State and Oklahoma are successful for this, it may become a trend for college football.

Gundy needs to stop being scared and schedule a real game

Hell yes. If you disagree with this you’re insane.

Gundy is going to con Venables to an (0-1) start every spring

The Cowboys will not face the Sooners during the 2025 college football season. It will be interesting to see if they will face each other again on the college football field. However, Oklahoma State and Oklahoma doing a spring game together for NIL purposes would be a good start to a new trend in the sport also.
