In arguably the most anticipated college football game of the season’s first month, the Oklahoma football program hosted the Tennessee Volunteers in a top-25 clash. Oklahoma, who joined the SEC in 2024 after a near century in the Big 12, opened conference play this weekend with a home matchup against the high-octane Tennessee offense. At halftime, the Sooners trail 19-3, with an abysmal performance from the team’s offensive line and starting quarterback Jackson Arnold. However, on the defensive side of the ball, OU has forced two fumbles and, despite playing nearly 20 of the first 30 minutes of the game, held UT to a respectable score.
Oklahoma will have a tall mountain to climb in the second half, playing from behind without a set starter at quarterback (Michael Hawkins spelled Arnold late). Additionally, Oklahoma will be without senior defensive back Kendel Dolby after he suffered a gruesome leg injury in the first half.
Oklahoma Football DB Kendel Dolby Leaves with Aircast
According to George Stola III of On3 Sports and Sooner Scoop:
Kendel Dolby is hurt, and it is really bad. He broke his leg.
Midway through the second quarter and with Tennessee deep in their own territory, Oklahoma football defensive back Kendel Dolby came downfield to meet a pulling blocker on a run play. With Dolby’s leg stuck and the pulling lineman playing through the whistle, the defender’s leg snapped underneath him, resulting in a stoppage of play.
Oklahoma Sooners’ trainers met Dolby near the ten-yard line, putting him in an aircast before carting him off the field. Before his departure, much of the Oklahoma football team rushed onto the field to give Dolby their best wishes. The defender accumulated eight tackles, one TFL, and a sack through three games this season. A senior, Dolby joined OU last season from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, posting 49 tackles, five TFLs, and a pair of sacks in Brent Venables’ defense.
