Ohio State is one of the biggest programs in college football, but it’s almost been a decade since they last won a national title, and many people are starting to give up on the program of being elite like it was back in the day.
Many in the sport agree that the Buckeyes aren’t on the same level as Georgia, which has won two of the last three national championships.
Ohio State Is No Longer The Top Program In College Football For Coaches
People who work in college football voted on a new poll of desirable situations for coaches nationwide.
According to Mike Chiari from Bleacher Report, “Antonio Morales and Bruce Feldman of The Athletic conducted a poll of 50 people who work in college football, including head coaches, general managers, assistant coaches, analysts and recruiting staffers, and they chose Georgia as the best job.
Chiari also stated, “Georgia received 16 first-place votes and 173 overall points, followed by Texas (12 and 155), Ohio State (eight and 143), Alabama (six and 123) and LSU (three and 53).
Georgia being ranked ahead of Ohio State isn’t a shock, but Texas being ranked second was a surprise. The Longhorns are getting back to being a great program, but they haven’t won anything in almost 20 years, and they also have to compete with a bunch of other Power Four schools in the state for recruits, while Ohio State only has to deal with Cincinnati.
Ohio State should be the second-best program to coach in college football. Even though they haven’t won anything lately, they are still the number one school in their area, play in a conference they can win every year, and have great boosters for NIL.
