Ohio State football is second in the most recent College Football Playoff standings. Defensively, the Ohio State Buckeyes have surrendered just 10.7 points per game, the second-lowest mark in the FBS. Conversely, Ohio State scores nearly 40 points per game behind transfer quarterback Will Howard. Last season marked the first year the Buckeyes did not finish in the top 30 regarding points per game since 2011. Head coach Ryan Day’s offense has been revamped under Howard, with the dual-threat passer posting a conference-high 22 touchdowns across nine games.
Howard joined a QB room that was vacant from last year’s starter, Kyle McCord. Meanwhile, former five-star mega prospect Julian Sayin joined Ohio State football via the transfer portal. Alongside Sayin and Howard, Ohio State has also used third-year passer Devin Brown in mop-up duty. With the future looking to belong to Sayin or Brown, the Buckeyes are preparing to lose a former four-star passer to the portal this offseason.
Ohio State Football QB Air Noland Likely Out in Columbus

Ohio State quarterbacks Will Howard, Devin Brown, Julian Sayin, and Lincoln Kienholz Air Noland are the only scholarship QBs who didn’t travel.
Earlier this week, NFL Draft and CFB analyst for @AToZSportsNFL Ryan Roberts indicated that Ohio State football quarterback Air Noland would likely depart from a loaded position group this offseason. OSU currently starts fifth-year senior Will Howard, with the Kansas State transfer throwing for 2,237 yards, 22 touchdowns, and five interceptions across nine games. Backing up Howard this season has been the duo of Devin Brown and Julian Sayin. The top quarterback recruit in the 2024 class per 247Sports Composite, Sayin transferred from Alabama to Ohio State last offseason.
With Sayin and potentially Devin Brown (2022 four-star recruit) commanding the quarterback position next season, all arrows point towards Air Noland leaving the program this offseason. A four-star quarterback in the class of 2024, Noland will have no shortage of suitors for the 2025 season and beyond. Noland has not attempted a pass this season but threw for 2,140 yards with 22 touchdowns and nine interceptions with Langston Hughes High School in 2023. On Saturday, Ohio State beat Northwestern 31-7.
