Ohio State opened fall camp on Thursday, and many position battles will occur. The most important one is at quarterback between Kansas State transfer Will Howard and Devin Brown, and many fans were able to get a first look at that battle with access to camp on Thursday morning.
Buckeye fans were able to see many of their favorite players at camp, and they will be seeing them suit up in the Scarlet and Gray this fall. Sadly, one player was not participating, and he will not be wearing the silver helmet this season because he has gone into early retirement.

Williams was a four-star recruit in the class of 2020 and saw action in 11 games in 2021-2022, recording 27 total tackles, and then in 2022-2023, recorded four total tackles in six appearances.
Williams posted an Instagram post on Tuesday announcing his retirement from football. The caption reads, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Jeremiah 29:11
4 knee surgeries & 3 shoulder surgeries – In these 5 years, there’s been a lot of light and a lot of dark…but I wouldn’t change a thing.
It’s been a long time coming, and it’s time to move on.
My family, teammates, and everybody who has stuck by me thought it all…I thank you & I love you.
The Lord’s plan is always greater.
I’ll see you soon❤️

It is sad to see a player retire at such a young age due to injury. Hopefully, Williams will stay around the football program as he finishes school at Ohio State, and he could be a great leader in the locker room for a team looking to win it all this season.
